SAVE DOWNTOWN NORTHBROOK is a not-for-profit grassroots coalition to prevent an existential threat to a vibrant community: a poorly conceived plan to allow the demolition of the historic heartbeat of the downtown area and replace it with towering high-density condominium buildings

There are better options that will not create terrible unintended consequences for the Village. A survey of Northbrook residents reveals that, overwhelmingly, they do not want the current plan being moved forward by the Village Board of Trustees.

But Northbrook residents have been left out of any problem-solving process. Behind closed doors, long before the public was informed, plans began formulating to change Northbrook’s downtown into a village people drive through to go elsewhere instead of maintaining a desirable community-oriented destination.
